This morning, the "woodpecker" was conclusively proven to be a nuthatch. Probably a white-breasted nuthatch, but getting a bird book that's not from the '40s would probably aid in the final decision. Nuthatches, you know, are the only sort of bird that climbs down a tree headfirst. It's true.

Yesterday, the little hummingbird made an appearance... for some reason yesterday all the birds were hovering near the dining room windows - just flying up to them and hovering and then flying back, which I hadn't seen them do before. It was mostly the chickadees doing that, and then one time, it was the little green hummingbird! It's funny how seeing a hummingbird just makes you feel all tingly inside.
